Swingrave UNDER CONSTRUCTION, please visit again soon!

Swingrave is a very popular and well attended charity dance event that has been running for nearly 10 years and is always on the first Sunday of every month. It has been the training ground for Sandy Bennett the Director of Swing Dance MK and will remain a central focus of Swing Dance MK’s social calendar. With the help of our very talented resident DJ, ‘Will d’Frill’, the event has continued to grow in popularity over the last 4-5 years.

Swingrave is unique, not just because all the proceeds go to a nominated charity each month but because it welcomes dancers from all parts of the country and, although it has ‘swing’ at its core, we welcome dancers from many dance styles too. On the day it is run by an army of happy volunteers who feel passionately about their involvement and without whom Swingrave would not be the success that it is.

Swingrave always starts with a dance workshop and we invite teachers from all over the country to share their knowledge and expertise. We also love to host a diverse range of live bands 4 or 5 times each year covering a wide range of musical genres from Blues, through to Big Band Swing to Rock and Roll.

We regularly support some ‘favourite’ charities such as ‘Crisis at Christmas’ and The British Legion for remembrance, Alzheimers and Breast Cancer but anyone can request a charity to be supported – local or national and its a great way to get involved, so, if you have a charity you would like us to support – please get in touch! You can also join the team of volunteers at any time and make some close new friends.

Here is some of the fun we get up to..

7th April 2019 The Hamiltons
James and Bridget have been teaching Swing Dance since the late 80’s and have taught in many places around the globe including being regular teachers at Herrang. Having children meant they gave up their international travels, but they have continued to teach their regular classes near Cheltenham and run the fabulous Jumpin’ at the Woodside Weekend. Learning from and being long-time friends with Frankie Manning gave them a foundation in Swing Dance that few teachers are lucky to have. They bring humour, intricacy, and a vast cannon of steps and shapes that will sometimes boggle your brain but with it comes their fabulous teaching skills and they will have you taking in steps and ideas that will make your dance more fun, more accessible and of a higher level than when you came into class.
