Meet the Teaching and Hosting Team
Hi I am Sandy and I am the Director of Swing Dance MK.
I have 12 years experience running the highly successful events and classes and have a clear and focussed vision of how to ensure a safe, fun loving, inclusive and bonding community where you the dancers, are at the centre of everything we do.
With a background in Education (professional teacher) and Sport (ex International Swimmer and Netball coach) my passion is sharing, empowerment and inclusion.
My invitation to you is to be involved as little or as much as you like. Whatever you choose to do with your dancing, your success will be my success. Register with us and when you arrive at your first class or event come and say hello – I can’t wait to meet you!
Hello! I’m Sarah and I have been dancing Lindy Hop for six years and have been teaching and performing with Sandy for three.
As a musician, I love the connection between the dance and the music; it’s just magic! Lindy is fun, it makes you smile and it allows for you to be creative. You don’t lose your individuality; you find it and embrace it!
I am from a professional teaching background and have experience of teaching in university, school and special educational needs settings, as well as leading community based projects. My teaching style is gentle with positive reinforcement and lots of practice!
I also love cake, and there’s always plenty of that at dances. So, I look forward to meeting you, chatting over a slice of cake, and sharing this wonderful dance.
Andy has been teaching now on the Lindy Hop circuit for 15+ years, and still loves it as much as ever. He has vast experience in helping newcomers take their first steps in Lindy, right through to helping top level dancers refine their technique.
His reputation on the Lindy circuit has given him the opportunity to teach and perform at many of the top Lindy festivals around the UK and across Europe. He has also been successful in competition, winning 3 UK Lindy titles and placing 7th in the world championships.
In addition to Lindy, he also feels at home sharing the flamboyant figures of the cheeky Charleston. He is also a master of adding lifts, jumps and flips into dance, and has become the most experienced air steps teacher in the UK.
‘Linz’ has been dancing since the age of five, when she took up ballet and tap. As she grew up, her love of dance expanded to jazz, and she became involved in youth performance groups where she became a confident choreographer and performer. Linz has since moved into partnered dancing gaining highly commended in her Ballroom and Latin exams.
In recent years she has realised that her personality is the perfect match for Lindy Hop and Charleston. Her enthusiasm, natural ability and passion for these styles has given her the opportunity to teach both at home and abroad.
Linz also loves to entertain an audience and continues to build her reputation as a performer of Lindy, Jazz, Charleston and Airsteps.
Stephen first experienced swing dancing in 2008 while on holiday in the United States. He has a passion for Jazz as a musician and dancer and through honing his skills and many national and international events he has become Swing Dance MK’s Balboa ‘guru’.
As such Stephen has helped us develop our Wednesday evening Balboa courses which have all sold out!
Stephen also plays and sings in the Last Chance Ragtime Band, which is a band dedicated to playing music for swing dancers all over the UK.
